The objective of the Accelerated Construction course will be to introduce students to precast elements and the connections required between them. The class will include trips to local precast plants and construction of small-scale mock-ups where students will be able to design and test the connection between two elements. Guest lecturers from industry will be sponsored to present in class. 

The proposer currently also works with FIU's Miami Beach Urban Studios (MBUS) which is a 3D printing laboratory associated with the College of Communication and Architecture, on several K-12 activities. This grant would be used to include 3D printing of formwork and other precast concepts into these curriculum.
