On the 2-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, Matt Burgermaster, coordinator of the PCI Design Studio at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) presented the PCI Studio’s education and research efforts at the N.J. Mayor’s Summit on Resilient Design. Held on October 29, 2014, at NJIT’s College of Architecture and Design, this event convened New Jersey mayors and other public officials, along with design professionals and others, to address lessons and opportunities for building resilience in a Post-Sandy/Irene world. The goal of this event was to provide mayors will tools needed to help make their communities more resilient. Prof. Burgermaster’s presentation focused on the resilient design and construction strategies developed in the PCI Design Studio and the unique role that academic-industry partnerships can play in providing resilient solutions to communities in need.
