25 Professors attend event at Kennesaw State in Marietta, GA
The 2022 PCI Foundation Professors Seminar took on a new theme and some some new presentation points when 30+ professors and precast professionals met together at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, GA.
Opening day, professors who have not yet applied for a PCI Foundation grant had a chance to learn more about the application process and what types of courses and learning happens with a PCI Foundation grant.
Later that day, the program officially opened with Mo Wright from Gate Precast sharing the newest advances in precast concrete technology, professors sitting in round tables to discuss

And professors and students from Kennesaw State created a gallery of work from the 2 years of programs the school has conducted.

Day Two included a Metromont Plant Tour in Hiram, GA before the group went on to look at precast projects including the Nathan Deal Justice Center. Architect Bill Clark of Stevens & Wilkinson gave a talk at the jobsite and shared his experience working with precast.
“Early design-assist workshops enabled the design team to fast-track the precast coordination with the concrete structural frame, shop drawings, fenestration and enclosure of the building. It also allowed the design team to fine tune wall panel sizes for efficient shipping, crane lift and installation.” – Bill Clark, Stevens & Wilkinson, Atlanta
We also toured the Avalon Project. Thanks to Endicott for sponsoring the busses for the tours. A pizza lunch at local Italian pizzeria Antico and then we returned to Kennesaw state to have professors share stories of their programs through a Pechakucha (pechakucha.com) presentation and another set of round tables

Jim Voss of JVI treated the group to dinner at Mac's Chop House on the Historic Square in Marietta, where we learned that the Mayor had proclaimed May 19, 2022 as Jim Voss Appreciation Day
