Carapace Pavilion, which will soon be on its way to serve as a shelter in Joshua Tree National Park, won a 2022 PCI Design Award for Best Custom Solution and All-Precast Concrete Solution Award Honorable Mention. This isn't the first award for the project which also received a design award from the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
This student-led project was designed and produced by a series of University of Southern California Students over three years led by Professors Doug Noble and Karen Kensek. Clark Pacific helped develop the project as well as supplied material, bed space and expertise to the students working on the project.
